A PUPIL has been given a brand new bike after completing cycling safety training.
Miah Taylor, a Primary 7 pupil at Kirklandneuk Primary School in Renfrew was congratulated for their efforts in carrying out the Bikeability training by Evans Cycles.
The youngster was presented with the bike at XSite Braehead after finishing training alongside over 100 other children at their school.
Jay Smith McKnight, Acting Depute Head Teacher at Kirklandneuk Primary, said: “We always want to encourage our pupils to take part in Bikeability, so we’re grateful to XSite Braehead for rewarding cycle safety.”
Bikeability is the government’s national, in-school, cycle learning programme.
It teaches children practical skills in understanding how to be safe when cycling.
As part of the training, pupils also designed their own bike safety posters which will now be displayed in XSite Braehead.
Rosalind Gibson, Marketing Manager at XSite Braehead, said: “It’s great that children are being encouraged to learn about how to be safe while cycling, and we are delighted to help raise awareness of Bikeability by exhibiting the young people’s work.”
