A HEARTBROKEN son whose mum died in a house fire has said his family has "lost everything".
The 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called to battle the blaze on Glen Fyne Road in Cumbernauld on Friday morning.
Her 82-year-old husband, George Smith, survived the fire while her son, 50, has been left fighting for his life in hospital.
Now, her son Jason has set up a fundraiser to help raise money for his mum's funeral and to help his dad and brother get back on their feet.
On GoFundMe Jason wrote: "In the early hours of July 1 my parent's home in Cumbernauld went on fire.
"Tragically and sadly my mum passed away in the fire.
"My father and brother managed to get out [but] my brother is fighting for his life in hospital.
"We have lost everything.
"Never thought in my life I would be writing a post like this or to ask for help.
"Any help or donations would be greatly appreciated to help my dad and brother thank you."
The fundraiser was shared on Facebook by Craigmarloch Community Council who wrote: "Jason’s mum, dad and brothers' house was lost in the fire in Glen Fyne Road last Friday morning.
"His mum tragically passed away in the fire and his brother is still seriously injured in hospital.
"We’re sharing a Go Fund Me page that has been set up by the family to help with funeral expenses and to help George get back on his feet.
"Our whole community has been shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our neighbours, and our thoughts are with George, his sons and their whole family."
So far, more than £1200 towards the £3000 goal has been raised.
