A SPECIALIST charity is calling on thrill seekers to take part in one of their most popular fundraising events.

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) is asking people to take part in their longest zipslide challenge yet when it returns in September.

The Zipslide the Clyde is returning "bigger and better" than ever with a 1000ft long route that runs alongside the Clyde and ends at the Tall Ship.

The challenge is offering supporters of the charity the chance to see Glasgow's cityscape in a completely unique way as they are launched off a 100ft high crane next to the Glasgow Riverside Museum - something which has never been done before.

The Zipslide the Clyde has been a highlight in the fundraising calendar for a number of years and has had to be postponed the last two years due to Covid.

All of the proceeds raised from the adrenaline-fuelled challenge will go directly towards providing personalised support to thousands of children, young people and adults across Scotland who are affected by the lifelong, complex conditions of spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.

Deborah Roe, director of fundraising for SBH Scotland, said: "We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Zipslide the Clyde challenge in September and as the only zipslide challenge taking place in Scotland this year, we’re calling on our supporters to make this our biggest challenge yet.

"Our annual zipslide challenge is not just a highly-anticipated event in our calendar each year but is also a hugely important fundraising activity, which we heavily rely on to ensure we can continue to deliver many of our vital services including support groups and one-to-one support.

"It’s been really devastating to postpone it the past two years.

"That’s why this year we hope people get their friends and work colleagues involved and come along for a fantastic day out on the Clyde, all in aid of SBH Scotland.

"Whether you’re a self-confessed thrill seeker or looking to overcome your fears – zipping down the Clyde will be an unforgettable heart-racing ride, that will go a long way in making a positive difference to the lives of thousands of families."

The zipslide challenge will be taking place on Friday 16, Saturday 17, and Sunday 18 September at the Glasgow Riverside Museum.
