A charity golf day in Glasgow's Southside raised a record sum for the St Andrew's Hospice this week.

Hosted by the Mears Group, who work in partnership the North Lanarkshire council, the annual sporting event at the Pollok Golf Club saw over £25,000 donated to the Airdrie charity.

Fundraising efforts on the day included and raffle and auction which was run by former Rangers player Gordon Smith as well as an appearance from golf professional Scott Garrett who donated his fee to the hopsice.

Money raised will go towards helping the charity provide specialist care for patients across Lanarkshire with life limiting illness.

Louise O’Donnell, Deputy Head of Fundraising, St Andrew's Hospice, said: “The outstanding help and support that Mears give to St Andrew's Hospice on an ongoing basis is tremendous.

"The amount raised at the golf day was phenomenal and we are so grateful to Mears and everyone who supported the event both on the day and by making donations."
