A BOGUS 999 caller hurled a sectarian slur at a handler.

James Purvis, 55, made the vile remark from his home in Glasgow's Battlefield on September 12, 2021.

The city's Sheriff Court heard that he made the call to Police Scotland and was answered by the victim.

Prosecutor Jennifer Sillars said: "It was alleged that he suffered a seizure and required assistance.

"The victim had previous knowledge that Purvis made a number of calls in the past and reminded him that it was to be used for emergency purposes.

"Purvis called the victim a 'dirty protestant b******' and told her to 'go f*** yourself' on a number of occasions.

Purvis again requested police assistance.

He was ultimately arrested later that day.

Purvis pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards the victim.
