RANGERS legend Andy Goram told his loved ones that he wanted mourners to wear Rangers ties instead of black at his funeral.

One of The Goalie’s last wishes was for friends and fans to wear the club's blue ties to the service, the Daily Record reports

Publican Stan Gordon, who helped organise the funeral, said: “Andy wouldn’t have wanted everyone to wear black.

"At one point he was talking about a royal blue coffin.

“So having as many people as possible wearing a Rangers tie will be the next best thing.

"He joked that he’s sorry he’s going to miss the service and it sounded like one he’d enjoy.

"He would have appreciated seeing the club’s colours at the church service.”

Rangers confirmed Goram's funeral will take place on Monday, July 18 at Wellington Church.

The church which can hold 900 people was chosen as Goram wanted as many people there as possible to pay their respects.

The following day Ibrox representatives will lay a wreath prior to the West Ham United friendly fixtures.

Ex-teammates Ally McCoist and John Brown and past Rangers chairman Donald Findlay QC will give eulogies and Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed Goram for Manchester United, is also expected to attend.
