Cops have vowed to continue patrolling beaches across Ayrshire following a 'serious assault' this week.
We previously reported that a 16-year-old boy had been raced to hospital following the incident at an 'extremely busy' Irvine beach on Monday.
Local police have now spoken out after revealing that another 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault.

Detective Inspector Stephen McCulloch, from Saltcoats CID, said: "Officers will continue to patrol beaches across Ayrshire, as part of the Safer Shores initiative.
"I would like to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation."
The boy will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court tomorrow.
