An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a man was assaulted in Balloch Park last night.

Shortly after 8 pm, the 18-year-old is said to have been attacked and robbed by a 'large group' of boys and girls, aged 13 to 15, at the jetty close to the Balloch House Hotel.

It is understood that three of the man's friends were also assaulted by the youths.

The man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received treatment for a facial injury before being released.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have reassured members of the public that they are working hard to keep the park a 'safe place'.

Detective Sergeant Nicky Beattie from CID Clydebank Police Station said: “The park was busy at the time of the incident and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assault or has video footage of the incident.”

“We want to reassure the public that regular high visibility patrols will be carried out and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.”

“Everyone should be able to enjoy the park, and we want to ensure it is a safe place to visit.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 3665 of July 20 2022.
