EasyJet has released an update after a flight bound for Glasgow was forced to divert mid-air.
Earlier, the Glasgow Times reported that a plane travelling from Faro was forced to make a u-turn, just minutes after takeoff.
Now, the company has confirmed that a technical issue caused the disturbance.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: “We can confirm that flight EZY6844 from Faro to Glasgow returned to Faro due to a technical issue.
"The aircraft landed safely and was met by emergency services as a routine and precautionary measure. Once the aircraft was at its stand all passengers disembarked normally.
"A replacement crew and aircraft was arranged and passengers continued their journey to Glasgow yesterday evening.
“The safety of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers’ guidelines.”

The flight left the Portugal city at 9.33pm last night but was forced to turn around shortly after leaving the country's airspace.
It was scheduled to land in Scotland at 11.55pm, after completing the 2,113 km journey.
