Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s Corporate Affairs manager for the west, said: "We continue to work with local residents who will be impacted by these essential works, minimising any disruption where possible and doing all we can to address any issues people might have.

"We are in dialogue with individual residents directly affected by the closure, to address their issues on a case-by-case basis.

"If we haven’t spoken to them already, we would urge residents to contact us to discuss any issues they might have.

"It is vital these works are carried out to help reduce the risk of repeated internal flooding and deliver benefits to the wider community.

"We thank the local community, road users and businesses for their patience and understanding while we deliver this major investment."

The project is being carried out by Scottish Water’s main contractors George Leslie Ltd and they will be upsizing the sewers and installing new chambers and associated infrastructure on Braidholm Road.

It also involves the installation of an underground storage tank beneath the grassed open space on the south side of Braidholm Road next to its junction with Whitton Drive and Graffham Avenue, and once installed the new tank will reduce pressure on the existing wastewater network during extreme weather events, providing capacity for extra stormwater storage.
