Two women were harassed in a town near Glasgow, just a day apart.

Police were called to two separate incidents in the North Lanarkshire town in the span of two days.

Both times, a woman reported being verbally harassed by a man.

The first incident happened on Wednesday, when a woman called police after receiving inappropriate comments in Craiglinn Park Road, Cumbernauld.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A woman reported that she had been approached in Craiglinn Park Road, Cumbernauld, by a man who made inappropriate comments to her. 

"There was no report of anyone being attacked. 

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

The second incident happened yesterday around 10am, on a trail near Broadwood Loch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10am on Thursday, July 28, 2022, police were called following a report that a man had made inappropriate sexual comments to a woman walking along a woodland trail near Broadwood Loch, Cumbernauld, before walking off.

"The woman was upset by the comments and contacted police.

"Despite a search of the area by officers, the man was not traced, however, enquiries are ongoing to identify him."

It is understood that officers are not currently treating the incidents as linked.
