A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in Paisley early this morning. 

The attacker, a man in his 30s, approached the woman around 1.30am on Sunday, in the Forbes Place area of the town centre. 

The 41-year-old victim was left shaken as a result and is currently being provided support by specialist officers.

The man is described as being white, of slim build, with a local accent and dark hair tied in a bun.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a black gilet, white T-shirt and dark denim jeans.

Detective Inspector Gary Sergeant of Paisley CID, said: "Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and we are appealing to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation.

“If you were in the area around the time of the incident, I would urge you to please come forward and speak with officers.

"I would also ask anyone with possible dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch with police.”
