The city centre came alive with a jam-packed programme of dance, music and arts this weekend as part of the Merchant City Festival.

The Black Victorians, a powerful dance performance choreographed by Jeanefer Jean-Charles MBE, was staged at the Scottish Youth Theatre building on Brunswick Street exploring 'a complex, but often forgotten black presence in pre-Windrush Britain'.
As the sun made a welcome return, George Square saw a thrilling BMX Freestyle show with some of Europe's best bike riders keeping crowds entertained with daring tricks.

Just a stone's throw away, a seven-metre-high rotating hourglass set the stage for Timeless, a show combining dance, circus and theatre to bring attention to the impacts of climate change.

Performers gracefully made use of the huge structure to demonstrate humanity's 'precarious balance' with nature which could 'at any point tip into chaos'.
