The weather might have been unpredictable this weekend but the opening of a new ice cream shop in the West End put us straight back into a summery state of mind.

After over a year of delays, Olivia's Gelateria welcomed customers for the first time today and promised to make their neighbourhood 'a whole lot sweeter'.

Shop owners joked about their postponed opening last month on social media saying: "Opening this summer, yes we said that last year but this time we really mean it."

Much to the excitement of the local community they later confirmed the official opening date as today, July 31.

The brightly coloured Broomhill Shop will be serving a menu full of variety from crêpes to cinnamon-dusted 'chimney cakes' and, of course, plenty of homemade ice cream.

Vegans won't be left out either with plenty of clearly marked plant-based options to be found on the shop's website.

After months of anticipation, sweet tooth across the city have been sharing their joy at the news of the shop's opening on social media.

One said: "So pretty! Can't wait to try it out."

Another added: So excited you’re open. I can’t wait to try your ice creams. Yum."
