A MAN will stand trial accused of holding a flare on the way to an Old Firm game.

Archibald Smith, 28, allegedly had the pyrotechnic on Springfield Road in Glasgow's Parkhead area on February 2, 2022.

Court papers state that Smith was on a journey to attend the Celtic and Rangers game at the time.

The charge goes on to say that he culpably and recklessly ignited and held the pyrotechnic flare in a crowd of people to the danger of said people.

Celtic went on to win the Scottish Premiership tie 3-0.

Smith, of the city's Carntyne, denies the single charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A trial has been set for next week and Smith remains on bail meantime.
