A PERVERT who communicated indecently with a girl he believed was 13 has been jailed for 18 months.

Darren Huby, 43, was instead talking to an adult posing as a decoy between November and December 2021.

Huby sent numerous sexualised messages and a selfie to the decoy on social media apps from his home in Glasgow's Lambhill.

The sick texts include Huby telling the decoy not to tell her parents or the police.

Huby pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to attempting to communicate indecently with a child.

The court heard a member of a vigilante group created the account on social media app Chathour posing as girls in their teenage years.

Huby's first message stated: "Mmm wow such a beautiful and sexy young girl."

The decoy replied: "I'm Charlotte, 13, Devon, you?"

Huby messaged back and forth stating that the decoy's body looked "amazing" and "very sexy."

Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said the conversation became more "explicit" and "sexual" in nature.

She added: "He stated that the girl should not tell any other person about this."

The pair continued to chat on WhatsApp.

Ms Stevens said: "During the conversation, Huby requested multiple times that she delete the conversation and any photographs she takes.

"At one stage he said 'are you sure it's okay and you're not gonna go to your parents or police'."

Huby later sent a picture of himself with a grey mask covering a part of his face.

The chats were later passed on to police who arrested Huby.

It was found that Huby was out on licence from an earlier prison sentence at the time.

Graham Mann, defending, told the court: "His history with relationships is described as never ending well.

"He has had a number of relationships over a number of years which did not last long.

"He has had a number of underlying problems that need to be addressed"

Sheriff Iain Fleming told Huby that he imposed a prison sentence with "regard to public interest of offences of this nature."

Huby was also put on the sex offenders register meantime.
