A YOUNG boy has been arrested after allegedly 'driving a quad bike down a major Glasgow road while carrying a weapon'.

Officers said they spotted the 13-year-old who was reportedly driving a quad bike on Great Western Road on Tuesday evening. 

The teenager was allegedly driving without a licence and carrying a knife.

He was later arrested and charged.

Sharing the episode on Twitter, police in the north west of the city urged parents to keep an eye on their children and their activities.

The tweet read: "Yesterday we arrested a youth who was driving a quad bike in possession of a knife on Great Western Rd.

"Do you know where your children are and what they are doing? Do you know you need a licence and insurance to ride quad bikes on a road?"

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 8pm on Tuesday, 9 August, 2022, officers stopped a boy driving a quad bike on Great Western Road, Glasgow.

“The 13-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with driving without a licence and with carrying a weapon.”
