STUNNING images show thunderstorms hitting Glasgow and surrounding areas on Sunday night, as a yellow weather warning remains in place. 

Heavy downpours with thunder and lightning hit the city overnight, and our readers shared their picture of the weather event on our Facebook Camera Club.

The Met Office is warning people in the Central Belt, the South of Scotland and parts of the Highlands of additional thunderstorms today. 

A second yellow weather warning will be in force for the rest of the day, until 11.59pm, while a first one came to an end this morning. 

Meteorologists are warning floods, power cuts and disruption to travel are all possible.

In Glasgow, it is to be rainy for most of the day, starting with showers turning heavy with risk thunderstorms.

After last week's warm temperatures Monday will be cooler, with a maximum of 22C and a minimum of 10C degrees.
