An investigation has been launched after a woman was subjected to a sex attack in a city park. 

The woman, whose age is unknown, was attacked in Springburn Park on Monday afternoon.

Police Scotland confirmed that they investigating the incident.

It comes after a post appeared on the community page No1Seems2Care.

The post said: "My friend was walking through Springburn Park yesterday (Monday) at about 3.30 pm with her headphones in and she noticed a teenage boy between 14 to 16 years old walking closely behind her.

"He asked her for directions and she pointed him in the right direction, and as she turned away to continue walking he grabbed her from behind. 

"She screamed and turned around, and he ran away towards the park gate entrance of the park.

"The police have been contacted and are coming out to speak to her this week.

"She is really shaken up by this and she’s wanting to make people aware."

Police did not reveal any details of a suspect when contacted by the Glasgow Times. 

The force, however, said: "Around 4 pm on Monday, August 22, police received a report of the sexual assault of a woman in Springburn Park, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
