YOUNG budding female footballers will get access to coaching after a city club received a funding boost.
Glasgow on the Ball were given a grant of £500 from Barclays Community Football Fund.
They will now offer free sessions for women and girls over the age of 16 at Glasgow Green regardless of ability.
Andrew Jenkins, 32, founder of Glasgow on the Ball said: “As a community club that promotes the ethos of sport for all, it was a natural progression for us to offer this provision.”
Glasgow on the Ball is a community football team, who raises funds and awareness for the Scottish international development charity - Africa on the Ball.
So far, the club have raised circa £15,000 for Africa on the Ball, whilst competing in the Glasgow Community & Cooperative League.
Andrew added: “It is our ambition as a community club to develop a full pathway of participation for anyone who wants to play football.
“I undertook my PhD on the underrepresentation of women's football within the Scottish media, so I'm aware of the historical issues women have faced in participating in football, particularly in Scotland.
“For us, these sessions can help reduce some of the cultural/social barriers women have traditionally faced in playing football - which should always be a sport for all.”
