THE return date of a new series of the popular documentary Inside Central Station has been revealed. 

The BBC programme follows staff behind the scenes as they navigate the many challenges of working in the country's busiest train station, and will return for a fourth series on Monday, September 5. 

This series will focus on some of the big changes happening at Central, including a multi-million-pound renovation of the Argyll line, and how the closure of the low levels for eight weeks impacts upper-level footfall.

Fans of the show can expect to see the return of familiar faces as they deal with a new era in the station, with footfall getting back to normal after the pandemic.

Meanwhile, fellow tour guide Jackie is on the hunt for pieces for the Glasgow Central Museum.

General manager Kat and her team are also preparing for a possible influx of refugees amid the war in Ukraine, and welcome a Ukrainian family passing through Glasgow to London. 

Station team manager John also tries to ensure the floods of football fans make it to Hampden on time for a Scotland game, while the national heatwave results in a station helicopter taking to the skies to survey the damage. 

Inside Central Station returns to BBC Scotland on September 5 at 8pm.
