THE OWNERS of a much-loved shop have announced that they are selling up.

The team at No. 40, an independent shop in Bearsden, told their followers on Instagram earlier this week that they are putting the store up for sale after an "incredible journey".

A venture by the Alba Collective, No. 40 sells fresh bread, coffee, beer, gifts and more.

Their announcement read: "After a pretty incredible journey and much deliberation, we've decided to put No. 40 up for sale.

"This was not our original intention for No. 40 but for family reasons (very happy family reasons at that!), we've collectively decided the time is right.

"We can't express in words the appreciation we have for the incredible support received from you all from the get-go, both locally and further afield. It has been a brilliant experience."

The shop specialises in local produce from Glasgow and further across Scotland.

It has been described as a 'local hub' for the community.

The announcement continued: "The foundation of the shop was always to promote great produce from Glasgow and across Scotland, and the extent to which you've rallied behind this has been truly overwhelming.

"We have been fortunate to make many great friends along the way, as well as discover an array of amazing local producers.

"This has enabled No. 40 to become the local hub that it is today, which is something we take immense pride in given the hard work required to reach this stage."

The team also thanked their loyal customers who have contributed to No. 40 becoming a "thriving independent business", and emphasised that anyone wishing to get involved in the business can contact them.

They added: "In the meantime, it's business as usual folks."
