UPDATE: Hunt for driver who fled scene after man struck by car
POLICE have locked down a street in Merchant City.
A section of High Street is currently taped off by police officers due to an incident.
Pictures show emergency services at the scene including an ambulance and a large police presence.
There is a car on the road which appears to have a smashed windscreen and road policing officers have been pictured investigating the vehicle.
A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "Around 3.30pm on Saturday, September 3, police were called to a report of a man struck by a car on High Street, Glasgow.
"Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and trace the driver who made off before police attended.
"The 36-year-old pedestrian has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."
