Residents are upset after realising they can no longer report fly-tipping and missed bin collections in the city, using the council's app.

Glaswegians have been left confused as to why the My Glasgow App no longer allows them to report the cleansing issues.

Many have taken to social media to seek advice on why the function was switched off.

One person said: "So Glasgow City Council have just removed the online forms and app functions to report flytipping or report missed bin collections which is a huge problem in residential areas, even outside of strike action.

"I guess it means the stats on these will look much better now."

Another person posted: "The My Glasgow App has been updated and I can no longer report flytipping, is this the same for other users?"

The council has confirmed that the option has been temporarily removed as a result of the recent bin strikes, but they are planning to bring it back as soon as the backlog is cleared.

A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: "We knew there would be extensive disruption to services as a consequence of the strike action and we are continuing to deal with the backlog of work that has arisen from the strike.

"We are aware of the many cleansing issues currently affecting the city and our plan to recover from the impact of the strike is focused on addressing these issues. Our plan has put a priority on removing waste from public places and that includes fly-tipping where it is found.

"We are making progress with our efforts to recover from the strike, but there will continue to be delays to the service for some time.

"We want to switch the service request forms back on as soon as possible and we are reviewing the situation on an ongoing basis."
