ScotRail services face disruption this evening due to 'severe weather'.

Shortly after 4pm a spokesperson for the firm took to Twitter to report that adverse conditions at Bishopbriggs were causing trains to run at reduced speed.

As a result, services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High will be reduced to a half-hourly service.

The update comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Glasgow earlier this afternoon.

The national weather service has put the warning in place from 4pm until 11pm tonight.

It has been predicted that heavy rain and thunderstorms will move northwards across Scotland through the afternoon into the evening.
