The Southside will soon welcome a brand new restaurant specialising in Italian street food.

Piada has been teasing its followers with regular social media updates and recently revealed that they will set up shop at 14 Minard Road in the heart of Shawlands.

An initial post from the team showed pictures taken inside their new unit ahead of renovation works.

The caption read: "Here we go!

"Behind the scenes of an exciting new venture hitting the Southside soon."

Local foodies were quick to clock the post with one tagging a friend to ask: "Could all your Piada dreams be coming true?"

Thankfully, it seems we won't have long to wait before those dreams become a reality with Piada later introducing us to their cheery looking mascot Rello and saying: "Meet Rello.

"They have made their way down to 14 Minard Road the official home of Piada!!!!

"Get ready to see a lot more of them as the restaurant takes shape in the coming weeks!"

Furthermore, anyone who is looking for a job is in luck as owners used their social media accounts to recruit front-of-house staff and chefs for part and full-time positions.

Although we've yet to receive a glimpse of a menu, the restaurant takes its name from a thin Italian flatbread originating from the Romagna region close to Forli-Cesena, Ravenna and Rimini.

The handmade dough is baked on a stone grill filled with a variety of ingredients and rolled into a wrap which can be customised.

Sounds promising to us!
