A Glasgow family has put out their apples for the local community to take in the midst of the cost of living crisis.

Chris and Jill Seenan, along with their four children, live in Mount Florida, with a big apple tree in their garden, which they say bears around 200 apples every year.

Because it is too much for the family to eat, for eight years, they have been placing a big basket full of fruit near their home, for any passers-by to take.

This year, however, it is especially important, according to Mr Seenan, as Glaswegians struggle against the rising cost of living.

The 37-year-old said: "We like to share it with the local community and it’s really nice to see and hear from others how they have used the apples.

"Especially at the moment when people are struggling financially or don’t have a garden they can grow in, it’s nice to know that others can benefit from tree."

The basket is sitting outside the property at 14 May Terrace in Mount Florida and welcomes anyone who would like some apples.

The family of six say they are almost always sweet enough, but they recommend cooking with them.
