Police Scotland has launched a probe after tributes to The Queen were allegedly vandalised in Glasgow.

Reports on social media suggest that the wreaths and pictures laid at the Dennistoun War Memorial were targeted in the incident.

Pictures show food dumped onto the structure as well as a photograph of Her Majesty taken.

A Facebook post, by the volunteers who look after the memorial, reads: "To the person who decided to remove the picture of The Queen and throw what looks like a pot noodle over the tributes:

"The police will be notified and they will no doubt be looking at the CCTV, which covers the memorial 24/7.

"This must have been done shortly before 8.50am this morning as the ground was still wet when I arrived to clean the memorial.

"We have most definitely seen the best and the worst of Scotland this past few days.

"Before and after."

Police Scotland has confirmed that they were called to the incident and an investigation has been launched.

A force spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we have received a report and enquiries are at an early stage.”
