A development of 60 new homes has been completed in Glasgow.

The affordable houses are located at Mansfield Park in the city's Partick and are now welcoming tenants after years of delay.

Funded by Glasgow City Council and Partick Housing Association (PHA), the development sits on the former site of St Peters School on Chancellor Street, Dowanhill Street and White Street.

There are 31 flats for social rent, 21 for mid-market rent and eight for supported accommodation managed by the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

Glasgow Times:

PHA Chief Executive, Stewart MacKenzie said: “We’re delighted to complete these new affordable flats in the heart of Partick, and welcome tenants to their wonderful new homes.”

PHA Chair Alan Howie added: “It’s great to have successfully completed this project and provide these affordable new homes.

"Many thanks to the Council, our partners and the local community for their continuing support.

"At Partick Housing Association, we’re committed to providing more quality affordable homes to meet local housing needs across the West End.”

Glasgow Times:

Councillor Kenny McLean, Glasgow City Council's Convener for Housing, Development, Built Heritage and Land Use also welcomed the development.

He said: “The completion of this development of new and high-quality affordable homes in Partick is very welcome, and of course, these flats help meet the need for such housing in this part of Glasgow.

"We were pleased to have supported this development, and to work with our partners to bring more new homes to Glasgow.”

Before the project was completed, it was met with significant delays due to the pandemic and the original contractor going into administration.

Glasgow Times:

In 2020, we exclusively reported that Partick residents were 'fed up' after a busy street was left shut off for months as progress was halted.

Since the completion, one new resident of Mansfield Gate has said that they were "so happy" to be offered a flat.

They added: "They’ve been built to a high standard and feel really spacious and bright inside. It’s just perfect for our first family home together.”
