A much-loved Glasgow café is closing its doors after almost two decades of trading.

The team at the popular Globe Café, based on Paisley Road West, announced to customers that they would be shutting up shop after 18 'wonderful' years.

In a heartfelt message, they said: “After 18 wonderful years, our journey is over and what an adventure it has been.

“We would like to thank each of our customers, old and new, for their continued love, support and respect.

“We appreciate you more than we could ever tell you and we were proud to be part of a community that was so dear to us.

“You have made these 18 years worth every moment and for that we thank you.

“Each of you will be missed and we wish you all the very best in the years to come.”

The news came as a disappointment to loyal regulars, but they wished the team well and thanked them for their years of service.

One commented: “You should all get medals. Thank you for the great food and chats, your kindness will be remembered fondly by many.

"You made such a difference to people's day. Wishing you good fortune and future prosperity for your next chapter. Arrivederci.”

Another added: “Very sad. The Globe Cafe was fabulous. All the very best for your future. Lots of love.”

A third wrote: “Aww I’m sad to hear this, it’s the best wee cafe around, always a lovely warm welcome from you all every time we come in, thank you for all your hard work over the years and all the very best to you all for the future.”
