Outlander star Sam Heughan has shared a nostalgic snap from his time on the streets of Shieldinch this week.
While these days Heughan is best known for his role as highland warrior Jamie Fraser in the Starz drama, the Dumfries-born actor first appeared in River City in 2005 playing footballer Andrew Murray.
His character tied the knot with Kelly-Marie Adams (Carmen Pieraccini) in a marriage that soon turned sour when she chose to return to Scotland rather than live a lavish life in Monaco.

Following a special episode to celebrate 20 years of the soap Heughan tweeted a fresh-faced photo of himself saying: "Happy birthday River City!
"Haha loved the special ep - must get myself a “bottle of blue” to drink!"

The anniversary episode, which aired yesterday evening, saw Bob O’Hara (Stephen Purdon) and best mate Angus Lindsay (Scott Fletcher) transported to a parallel dimension with plenty of familiar faces after drinking a mysterious blue liquid.
Speaking with the Glasgow Times last week Purdon said: “I remember my first day on set. We all got together for a read-through in the canteen, and I wasn’t really in it that much.
"I was pretty much there as Deek’s (Gordon McCorkell) pal, so I had a few lines, but it wasn’t a main part or anything.
“It was amazing to be on this purpose-built set, where everything was so fast-paced, and I was learning on the job.
"I was very nervous, but I think if you ask any River City actor, past or present, they’d say the same thing - you learn so much being part of this show.”
