Two East Renfrewshire teens took the leap in a 160-foot bungee jump for a cause close to their hearts.

Molly Miller, 16, and Olivia Houston, 17, have been best friends since meeting at school and enjoy taking on thrilling new challenges.

After hearing about the opportunity to take on a bungee jump while also raising money for an important charity, they - literally - jumped at the chance.

The pair, both from Clarkston, leapt from a platform overlooking the River Clyde at the Riverside Museum on September 24 in aid of Who Cares? Scotland.

Who Cares? is an independent member organisation for anyone who has experienced care, such as foster care, kinship care, residential care and adoption, and has a close connection to Molly.

She said: “My mum started working there five years ago and she is always telling me about her work. It makes me proud hearing about the fantastic job she does to support Care Experienced people, especially now that she runs the Helpline.”

“Because of this, I’ve done lots to raise money for them. This year I’ve already done the Glasgow Kiltwalk and now being able to tick something off my bucket list, while also raising money, was really amazing.

"It was one of the best days of my life.”

Olivia added: "We do everything together and when we heard about the bungee jump we thought it was an amazing way to have fun and do some good at the same time.”

Molly's mum, Carolelynne, works on a Helpline which advises people on issues such as rights, finances and more. It is open to anyone who has experienced care, supporting someone in care or who works in the sector and needs support.
