TV star Rylan has revealed that he's "obsessed" with River City and would love a part in the soap.

The 33-year-old revealed to Michelle McManus that he got into the show while he was in the city filming Ready Steady Cook, the Scottish Sun reports.

He said: “I am obsessed with River City.

“I bumped into one of them once. If I’m not in it by Christmas, then I’m done.

“I adore Glasgow. I was really lucky the second time I did Ready Steady Cook."

Speaking at Saint Luke's and the Winged Ox in a Q&A for his new autobiography Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, Rylan admitted that the concept of a roll in square sausage baffled him.

He said: “Someone was like, ‘Do you want breakfast?’ and there was a square sausage.

“I’m like what? I was in the hotel filling in my breakfast card and it was Scottish or English breakfast and I ticked Scottish.

“When I was here before, someone bought me Irn Bru bubble bath salts. I’ve had an Irn Bru bath.”

He also revealed that he enjoyed being here in the colder months, praising the scenic city centre.

He added: “I flew up here, and it was lockdown when there was snow in January and there was no one in the city.

“I stayed near George Square. The snow didn’t have one footprint and I got to walk around.

"It looked like A Christmas Carol."
