Popular Spanish retailer Zara will create its flagship store in Glasgow bringing more jobs to the city.

The retailer will relocate its shop in the Glasgow Fort in the city's Easterhouse taking over a flagship 37,000 square foot store previously occupied by Topshop and Topman.

Topshop and Topman previously closed after their owner Arcadia went into administration two years ago.

Work has already started on the new store, expected to open in late 2023. The current Zara will continue trading until the new store opens its doors.

Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “We are thrilled to be able to share this news and we know our visitors will be just as excited as we are.

"Our Zara store is extremely popular and we’re proud that they have chosen Glasgow Fort to go even bigger and better, making it one of the flagship stores for the whole of the UK.

“As well as bringing a great new range to Glasgow, it will also bring with it even more job opportunities for the local area, and we can’t wait to see it come together next year.”
