Staff at a Glasgow restaurant are overjoyed to have received a visit from a local "legend".

On social media today, Mediterraneo on Ingram Street shared a photo of one team member smiling happily alongside beloved comedian Billy Connolly.

A caption read: "Serving a Glasgow legend! Billy Connolly at Mediterraneo."

In just one hour the post has now received more than 350 likes with fans rushing to share their love for the Big Yin.

One said: "Tickety boo, Billy. Looking good."

Another added: "Favourite restaurant, favourite Scot."

A third agreed: "What a man, love him."

Billy famously retired from performing in 2018 after he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease five years previously.

He now lives in Florida with his wife Pamela Stephenson.
