Verdict: Five stars.

Robbie Williams proved to be the ultimate showman as he celebrated 25 years of being a solo artist at the Hydro on Monday night.

Wearing head-to-toe gold, the star shimmered onto the Glasgow stage where he boldly declared, “Allow me to reintroduce myself I’m Robbie f**king Williams.”

And he did just that in typical Robbie fashion as he belted out Let Me Entertain You, taken from his debut album Life Thru A Lens.

The anthem Strong followed as Williams, now 48, flattered: “I f**king love you, Glasgow.”

And it was clear to see that admiration was mutual as the Hydro fans lapped up every inch of the star from his on-stage jokes to his wild dance moves.

A surprise cover of Oasis’ Don’t Look Back Anger delighted the audience while The Flood paid tribute to his 2010 Take That return and proved to be a highlight.

Taking a moment to look back, the singer then revealed to the crowd that he has been sober for 22 years before performing the rearrangement of Eternity which featured on his latest album XXV. He then dedicated the song to Spice Girl Geri Halliwell whom he credited for his sobriety.

Throughout the show, the singer reminded fans of his incredible back catalogue which featured his writing talents as well as Guy Chambers.

The pair produced a powerhouse of hits throughout the nineties and noughties.

Old Before I Do captures the Brit-pop era the singer launched his solo career while the strings of Supreme showcased the versatility of his sound.

The sultry Kids duet he did with Aussie pop star Kylie allowed the spotlight to be put on his talented backing singers before Williams brought his rapping skills to the arena for Rock DJ.

A born entertainer, Williams thrives on a live stage and it’s infectious.

You can’t help but fall for his charisma, and it’s perhaps the reason why he’s lasted more than three decades in the music industry.

With a smile, he then beamed: “There is something about you lot up here, it’s different,” before he dedicated his finale anthem Angels to Scotland while draped in a saltire.
