A THIEF broke into a dental practice and made off with £1,100 and a prescription pad.

Alexander Reid, 50, entered Tiwari Watson Dental Practice in Glasgow's Springburn on June 12.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Reid "forced entry" into the front fire exit.

CCTV showed Reid making off with various items in his possession.

The owner was made aware the following day and conducted a search of the premises.

Prosecutor Sarah Latta said: "He found a number of items missing such as a chequebook, two metal safes, a sum of money of £1,100 that was in the safe as well as a prescription pad with 200 prescription slips.

"He also made off with a quantity of medication and a set of keys."

Reid was later identified by police on CCTV as being responsible and he was traced to his home.

A search of his home recovered none of the stolen items.

Reid then led the officers to a shrubbery where the two safes were hidden before he was arrested.

David Hannah, defending, told the court that Reid believes all the items except the money were recovered inside the safe.
