A brave group of 'fire-walkers' proved their dedication to helping a Glasgow charity by stepping over burning coals.

Nearly 20 volunteers took part in the red-hot walk to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, which provides accommodation for families of youngsters being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children.

The event was hosted by Braehead Shopping Centre and Braehead Arena.

Glasgow Times:

Braehead's community development manager Lydia Brown said: “Well done to the brave fire-walkers.

“People often say they would walk over hot coals to achieve something, well these volunteers literally did that for a great cause.

“We were delighted to host the event because the work of the Ronald McDonald House Glasgow is so important to young hospital patients and their families.”

Glasgow Times:

The team has so far raised over £4500 for the charity, which equals around 100 nights of accommodation for a family.

Ross Clift, Community Fundraiser at Ronald McDonald House Glasgow added: “Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you and well done to our brave supporters who took on the firewalk as well as their incredible friends and family who donated to their challenge.

"As the donations still roll in, I’m proud to say we have already raised more than £4500 for the House.

"This means our brave supporters will have provided over 100 nights of accommodation for a family when their child is seriously ill in hospital.

“As a fully self-funded charity, events like these are so vital to allow us to provide our essential service.

“Thank you so much to Braehead Shopping Centre and Braehead arena for making this possible.”
