The new cast member of Two Doors Down has admitted she had never heard of the show before bagging a role.

While Glasgow actress Gabrielle Hughes has worked with Hollywood star Brad Pitt, she was working at Starbucks when she auditioned for the popular sitcom.

But she confessed that she had no idea what the show was about and had never seen it.

Gabrielle told the Scottish Sun: “Literally I had never heard of it before I went in.

“I had to go and watch it all before my audition.

“I sat for a couple of days and binged the show so I knew what I was going in for.

“I thought it was hilarious and so funny. Then I went in for my audition and they liked it."

She will star as Nadia in the new series, which begins on Wednesday on BBC Scotland

She added: “The new series is a lot of fun.

"There’s some new characters, myself included.

"Everybody is such big fans of the show. I had no idea.”

Before working with Brad in the zombie film World War Z - filmed in Glasgow city centre - Gabrielle appeared in the children's show Nina and the Neurons.

Most of the scenes she has filmed for Two Doors Down involve comedy legend Elaine C Smith, who plays Christine, who Gabrielle called the "nicest person on the planet."

Gabrielle said: “It was really fun to work with her. Everyone was so nice.

“I’m in the episode quite a lot. I filmed for like two weeks.

“They might cut all my scenes by the time it comes to it. But it was a lot of fun.

“I can’t wait for people to see it. It’s going to be such a good season. I can’t wait until it comes back.”

With the news that one major character, Cathy, will not be returning, fans are eager to know if Gabrielle will be the new love interest for Jonathan Watson’s character Colin.

She said: “No, I’m not Colin’s new partner.

“But I love Jonny. He’s so fun.”
