Train services to and from Glasgow could be cancelled after a tree fell on train wires in Paisley.

ScotRail has warned passengers that multiple routes will be affected.

On Twitter, the company said: "Network Rail has received reports that there's an object caught in the overhead wires in the Paisley area.

"Due to this, the following services may be cancelled, delayed or revised:

"Glasgow to Ardrossan Harbour

"Glasgow to Ayr services

"Glasgow to Largs services."

Passengers are advised to check their journey before travelling.

Network Rail said: "We’re dealing with a tree that’s fallen on the overhead lines at Elderslie, near Paisley Gilmour Street.

"We’ve closed the line from Paisley Gilmour Street towards Ayrshire at the moment until we can remove this. More info ASAP."
