A teen has been arrested after a man was 'stabbed' near a city soup kitchen. 

Emergency services were dispatched to Argyle Street on Saturday evening after receiving reports of an assault.

It is understood a 22-year-old man was stabbed. 

Reports on social media claim that the incident occurred near a queue for a kitchen which operates in the city centre. 

Images show the area taped off by cops while ambulances are parked nearby.

The force confirmed that they had attended and that the man was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious yet stable condition.

An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged incident and is expected in court on Monday. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 8.40pm on Saturday, November 19, to a report of a serious assault in Argyle Street, Glasgow.

"A 22-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment where his condition is described as serious but stable.

"An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, November 21.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
