Dozens gathered to watch the Christmas light switch-on in one Glasgow area.

The Sighthill Festival of Light took place on Fountainwell Drive on Thursday evening and signalled the start of the festive season for local families.

With food, drinks and music, the atmosphere was joyful and everyone watched in anticipation as the lights on the tree went on.

Michelle Main, project support officer at Sighthill Regeneration, said: "I really enjoy doing these events.

"It's all about community and the new residents meeting with the existing neighbours. Christmas is a great opportunity for everyone coming together."

Kirsteen Marshall, manager at New Rhythms for Glasgow, added: "I think it went amazingly well, Michelle did it practically on her own, it was all hands on deck and it's been a big turnout.

"Kids had a great time, families had somewhere warm to go for a few hours. It went really well."
