A POPULAR Danish retailer has officially opened the doors of its first ever Scottish store in Glasgow city centre. 

Søstrene Grene opened the new shop in St Enoch Centre this morning with a grand opening event. 

Queues of shoppers eagerly waited outside the store which is bringing a unique Scandinavian shopping experience to the city.

Glasgow Times:

Scottish radio presenter Katy Johnston officially opened the store at 9.59am on Friday morning, welcoming shoppers on a red carpet as they were serenaded by a string quartet.

The first 100 shoppers were rewarded with vouchers for the brand’s signature tufted rugs, free goody bags, bespoke cupcakes, and complimentary refreshments.

Norma Jacob and Richard Power, who operate the new store, said: "What a wonderful opening for Søstrene Grene’s first ever Scottish store.

"The number of shoppers who turned out for the Grand Opening was spectacular and we’re delighted that everybody was so excited to explore the new store.

"We’re thankful to all of our staff working so hard behind the scenes to ensure the store is ready to welcome shoppers to our wonderful world of hygge and homeware - we hope to see you soon."
