The wait is nearly over for Glasgow golf enthusiasts with the opening of Topgolf just around the corner.

A global phenomenon, the technology-powered game has already taken off in the U.S., United Arab Emirates, and Australia, and the new venue in Rutherglen will be Scotland's first.

Now after much anticipation, the opening date has been confirmed as Friday, December 16, 2022.

Staff are in full training and preparing to welcome guests soon.

Topgolf's director of operations, Simon Green, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with the energy of the city in the run-up to opening the doors of our first Scottish venue.

"Our newly recruited Playmakers are busy training and excited to welcome in our first Players ahead of Christmas."

Topgolf has been described as a unique golfing experience with a range of interactive games across three levels for all skill levels.

The 72 climate-controlled all-weather bays can hold six people each, and it uses Toptracer technology which is seen at major golf tournaments and on driving ranges around the world.

As well as games, players can enjoy a range of American-inspired cuisine chicken and waffles, a double smokehouse burger, and brisket grilled cheese, with signature cocktails and local beers served at the bar.

Mr Green added: “Those familiar with Topgolf already will recognise many hallmarks of what makes a night out here so special, including the unique games, delicious food, and party atmosphere.

"With our new technology in place, we really can’t wait to show Scotland what we’re all about and welcome everyone of all ages from across the country to join us.”
