A Govan charity is "really proud" after being presented with a major award on Tuesday.

We previously reported that Men's Shed Govan have been crowned the Scottish Men's Shed of the Year Award for their positive contribution and impact within the community.

After beating fellow finalists, Inverurie & District Men’s Shed and Lanark Men’s Shed, Men's Shed Govan was awarded with a trophy and other goodies by the Scottish Men's Shed association.

Glasgow Times:

Martin Haddow, chairman of Men's Shed Govan, said: "It just feels amazing to get this for what we've done in here.

"We've fitted a defibrillator, we built planters and have done so much for the community.

"I'm delighted that we've won."

Men's Shed Govan attendees were delighted with the prestigious win.

Arthur Bisset, 61, from Govan, said: "I just think winning this is brilliant for all the guys, that we've managed to achieve this.

"This award isn't something we tried for, we're just all good pals and we work hard. 

"It's great to be recognised, I feel really proud."

Glasgow Times:

John Devlin, 64, from Govan, added: "We help parts of the community, and we give back to the community. When we started, we looked for help, and now we're in a position to help others.

"It without a doubt (feels amazing) to have won this. But there is no one hero in all of this, we are all heroes."

The Govan charity was crowned following a public vote, which closed on Sunday, October 30.

Men’s Shed Govan is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am until 2pm.
