B*Witched fans can expect a “high-energy” and “punchy” show when they take to the OVO Hydro stage on Monday.

The 90s Irish pop group, comprising Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinead O'Carroll, will perform at the Finnieston venue as special guests on Blue’s 12-date Heart & Soul tour.

The two bands first toured together in 2013 for The Big Reunion, alongside Five, 911, Atomic Kitten, Honeyz and Liberty X, and last toured together in Australia three years ago just before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Edele says B*Witched, who are best known for their 1998 single C’est La Vie, are "really looking forward" to getting back on the road with Blue after discussing another tour for some time.

"We get on really well with the lads," she says.

"We met them at The Big Reunion, that was the first time we met them, and got on from that point and then we toured with them in Australia a few years ago.

"We have been talking to each other in the background saying ‘come on, let’s get something done’ so here it is finally."

She laughs: "We’re really looking forward to going on tour with them, however, I’m not entirely sure we’re going to get all the time to party with them as we hoped as they’re on the bus and we’re in the hotels so unless they’re parked near us, they’ll be partying on the bus without us which is a shame."

Edele says the band "can’t wait" to get back in front of a Glasgow crowd and even though there might not be much partying in the city, there will still be a fun atmosphere backstage.

She says: "I just remember Glasgow being a really good audience to play and I know we always have a great evening when we’re there so I’m actually just really looking forward to going back.

"We love the Scottish audiences, I always think they remind me of an Irish audience, just really up for everything.

"And my cousin lives in Glasgow so it will be a nice catch-up with her as well."

She continues: "[I’m most looking forward to] just going on stage in general, that’s my favourite thing to do, why I did music, and that’s what we get to do when we’re on tour, so I just absolutely love it.

"I’m looking forward to getting dressed up, make-up on and singing and then having a little bit of fun in between.

"We get on really well with the lads so it should be really nice family atmosphere backstage as well so we’re really looking forward to it."

But it’s not just seeing B*Witched on Monday that fans have to look forward to, with new music set to come out in the New Year.

During lockdown, the band started a podcast called Starting Over With B*witched, which led to them getting back in the studio with their "hitmaker" Ray Hedges.

"We produced a podcast in lockdown but from there Ray Hedges was like ‘oh I miss you girls, we need to do this again’ and we’ve been back at the studio again since," Edele explains.

"And then we got Sony back on board a couple of months ago so it’s been a really nice little focus and I think you can expect the unexpected.

"When you come back together like this, having had a music past, people expect that you’ll maybe rewrite the previous hits whereas I don’t think people are actually going to expect what they’re going to hear."

So, what can the audience expect on Monday?

"They will have a great night from us, that is something that we do well," Edele says.

"We do a live show well so it will be high energy, the set list is really good, really punchy, and it will leave you wanting more I reckon.

"We’ll play a couple of the new tracks on the tour so we’re really looking forward that as well."

B*Witched will perform at the OVO Hydro on Monday, December 19 as special guests on Blue’s Heart & Soul tour.
