A charity based in North Glasgow has put on a unique Nightmare Before Christmas event for local families.

Community organisation New Rhythms for Glasgow, organised the festive celebration at their base in Sighthill yesterday.

Children were tasked with finding Santa at the end of a nightmare-ish maze, inspired by the classic film Nightmare Before Christmas.

During the experience, they had to overcome spiderwebs, witches, murderous butchers and more, to finally get to the Snow Princess and Santa himself.

Organisers chose the unique theme to reflect what is going on in the community.

Kirsteen Marshall, service manager at the charity said: "We have been working alongside the community of Sighthill for several years now. Every year, we host a Christmas event for local families.

"However, we realise that Christmas is not always a happy or easy time for people, so we wanted to do something a little different this year. We embraced the darkness that can be felt by some families at Christmas and decided to host a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed event.

"We have recruited the help of local people to get in character, as well as Councillor Anthony Carroll and Michelle Main from Glasgow City Council.

"We can't thank them enough. Our staff work tirelessly throughout the year to bring some joy and imagination into the community, and of course, it would not be possible without our core funders at Glasgow City Council and The Scottish Government."
