A Glasgow shopping centre has raised thousands of pounds for a local charity to help families struggling amid the cost-of-living crisis.

St Enoch's Centre raised a record £25 000 in charity funds through sales of its popular Meet Santa experience.

All of the money and donations of gifts will help local charity Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas (GSOC) to support thousands of struggling families in and around the city.

The GSOC campaign hopes to support over 19 000 families and children in Glasgow living in relative poverty to make sure kids "wake up to gifts from Santa" on Christmas Day.

Julie Griffin, founder of Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas said: "This year has been our toughest year yet with so many families struggling from the cost-of-living crisis.

"The magnificent support we received from St. Enoch Centre has been critical to enabling us to meet the needs of our children’s referrals to ensure children will wake up to gifts from Santa on Christmas Day.”
