In a drive to support foodbanks this winter, BAE Systems have donated over £160 000 to help foodbanks across the UK including Glasgow.

The company operates two shipyards on the Clyde, one at Govan and one at Scotstoun.

The money was donated to the Trussell Trust which operates locations in Glasgow.

As part of their community investment work, BAE Systems' donated almost £22 000 in Scotland to fund emergency food parcels and cover operational costs that ensure goods can be safely stored, sorted and distributed.

A number of the company's employees play an active part in volunteering with community food banks.

Sarah, who works in BAE Systems’ Digital Intelligence business, volunteers at her local foodbank.

She said: “We meet people at the foodbank who are in work, between jobs and caring for people.

"Everyone is always so grateful for the food, the generosity and for what we’re able to provide.

"People can get emotional when they see the food parcel we’ve packed up for them and it’s so rewarding to see the difference we’re able to make.”
