An urgent plea has been issued after bags to cover syringes ran out at a Glasgow hospital.

In a post on Facebook, Mary Angels said the syringe driver bags were for patients and both the Beatson Cancer Charity and University Hospital Wishaw were in need.

She issued a plea for anyone that could knit or sew to help make bags for patients.

"Wishaw General and the Beatson have run out of bags to cover syringe drivers, meaning we patients have to walk about holding these drivers and at home (etc) it making showering and stuff more difficult.

"So if anyone likes to craft, sew, or knit and can make bumbag-style bags with a strap to hold string drivers, Wishaw General and the Beatson would absolutely welcome your donations.

"These can be dropped off at myself to bring in and hand over for you.

"Share away guys."

Dr David Watson, chief of nursing at University Hospital Wishaw, said: “We always endeavour to have pump bags available for patients.

"We are grateful for the public’s support and would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to create and donate bags for patients.”
